Lenses & Frames

Q: Do the prices for prescription glasses shown include lenses?
A: Yes, all prices include FREE Standard (CR39) Lenses and a FREE Hard-Coating. There’s also a range of upgrades you can select.

Q: Can you re-glaze my existing frames?
A: Yes, simply pop into any of our branches with your frames and a current prescription.

Q: Are your frames CE marked?
A: Yes, we only provide high quality frames that have the CE mark of approval.

Q: What do the frame measurements mean?
A: The easiest way to find the right frame size that will fit comfortably, is to get the dimensions from a current pair of glasses you already own. On one of the arms you will usually find three measurements, the first two separated by a square.  See our guide to buying glasses on-line.

Q: What if my frames require adjusting after I receive them?
A: If your feel your frames require a minor adjustment, most optical practices will carry this out. Usually they will do this without charge but in some cases a small fee may be applicable.

Q: What are the lenses made of?
A: We use lightweight CR39 plastic lenses for most of our glasses. For our ‘thin’ lenses, we use 1.6 & 1.67 high-index lenses. We do not offer glass lenses on-line but they are available in all of our practices.

Q: Do you sell prescription sunglasses and tinted lenses for spectacles?
A: Yes, You can choose from a variety of coloured tints (with standard 15-20% light transmission); glasses can also be made with photochromic lenses which change with the lighting conditions. This type of lens is clear in normal lighting conditions, but it tints under sunlight & they include a 100% UV filter. Either type of lens can be fitted to spectacle frames or any of sunglasses which are indicated as glazable. These options can be specified when ordering after you have selected a frame.
