Downey Junior Dons Designer Frames for Due Date Premiere

image Robert Downey Junior, star of numerous Hollywood hits including Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man 1 & 2, has been spotted wearing a stylish pair of
Oliver Peoples Jack One sunglasses at the LA premiere of his latest movie, Due Date.

Released in the UK over the bonfire night weekend, Due Date follows Downey Junior’s character, Peter Highman, as he hitches a terrifying ride across the US with Ethan Tremblay, who is played by The Hangover star, Zach Galifianakis.

Despite appearing on the red carpet in LA wearing Jack One sunglasses, Downey Junior sported an equally fashionable pair of Oliver Peoples Benedict shades throughout the movie. In further illustration of his fondness for Oliver Peoples sunglasses, the Hollywood star had also been seen wearing Sheldrake frames at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards ceremony in March.

Jack One sunglasses, the design of which was said to be inspired by a pair of frames once worn by Neil Diamond, are part of Oliver Peoples’ 2011 range. Suitable for men or women, Jack One features “an edgy shaped lens” that is likely to appeal to the “fashion-forward wearer”, according to the Oliver Peoples website. Jack One shades are available in four styles: chrome with mineral glass grey; copper gold with chrome rose photochromic; gold with mineral glass G15; and silver with chrome sapphire photochromic.

image Aside from its unique style, the Jack One design incorporates oleophobic coating, which serves to repel water, oil, dust and fingerprints. Another notable feature of the Jack One frame is its maximum sizing; a fashionably oversized look can be achieved by the 57mm-wide lens, 15mm-wide bridge and 140mm-long arm piece.

In regard to Robert Downey Junior’s wearing of Oliver Peoples Benedict sunglasses whilst filming on the set of Due Date, the actor – or his personal stylist – could not have chosen a trendier pair. Seen as something of a luxury purchase, the Benedict sunglasses offer exceptional style and quality.

Available in silver with chrome sapphire or gold with chrome amber, the latter of which was worn by Downey Junior in Due Date, the Benedict sunglasses are as comfortable as they are stylish, featuring specially designed silicone nose pads and temple tips. After moviegoers spent almost two hours watching Robert Downey Junior’s sunglasses glint and sparkle in the US sun, many would be forgiven for suspecting that the actor has bought shares in the designer frames firm.
