When you’ve received your new designer glasses you’ll want to take good care of them. When your lenses are clean they’ll give you better vision and look great too.
It’s advisable to wash your spectacles regularly in warm soapy water wash away any dust and grease. You can then carefully dry and polish the lenses with a soft clean cloth, preferably a microfibre cloth.
Anti-reflection coatings are commonly used now and special care is required not to place your fingers on the lenses because your fingerprints will stand out on the coating.
You should always handle your spectacles carefully. The best way to put your spectacles on and off is to hold your spectacles with both hands at the front of frames, or alternatively, hold the temples (side pieces).
When putting your spectacles on, push the temples gently over your ears and ease the frame onto your nose. You can remove your spectacles by using the same two-handed grip and simultaneously raising the temples and sliding your specs forward.
Don’t rest your spectacles on your forehead or high up on your head. This stretches the temples out of shape and will make for uncomfortable wearing.
Never store your spectacles facing down because this will scratch the lenses.
Never leave your spectacles on the dashboard of a car or near a source of heat. Both your lenses and frames are made of materials that can react adversely to extreme temperature variations.
Practicing proper lens maintenance will protect your lenses so they’ll look great and retain their initial clarity.
